About Mayeesha

I am a second-year political science and journalism student at Northeastern University. I was born in Bangladesh, grew up in Northern California and am now braving the cold winters of New England.

Through an interest in foreign policy and a healthy dose of skepticism, I plan on following a beat on Syrian refugees as well as the different types of policies that affect them. It is my hope that by highlighting the humanitarian shortcomings of many actors in the international system, it will put some level of pressure on decision makers to do something.

When I am not attempting to save the world through ink on paper (or words on blog? I don’t know how to translate that metaphor to the digital age), I enjoy attending concerts and eating spicy foods. I laugh a little bit too loud, drink copious amounts of bubble tea and can spell the word “encyclopedia” really fast.

Will this blog be solely on foreign policy? Probably not. It will definitely be a focus, but I am interested in doing and writing about many things. Stay tuned.
